What’s RSS?

RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” It’s a family of information formats used to distribute frequently updated content. An RSS document is called a “feed” and usually contains a short summary of the full text. To learn more about RSS, watch this fun video called “RSS in Plain English.”

1. How do I tell you which sites I want you to watch for me?

It’s easy. Go to the Add a Feed page where you’ll find a box labeled “RSS Feed URL”. Type in the address of the RSS feed you want sent to you, enter your email and click “Go”. You’ll receive an email explaining how to activate your subscription.

2. Do I have to join to use SendMeRSS?

Nope. You can subscribe to as many feeds as you want without joining SendMeRSS. But for each new feed, you’ll have to re-enter your email address, agree to Terms and Conditions and receive a confirmation email from us with an activation link. To avoid all that, joining makes the process faster. And it’s totally free. By joining, you get instant access to our feed manager allowing you to more quickly view, manage and subscribe to feeds with fewer clicks.

3. How do I unsubscribe from a feed?

You can easily unsubscribe at any time. Your welcome email will include an unsubscribe link as well as every subsequent SendMeRSS feed you sign up for.

4. I get enough email as it is. What about spam?

We hate spam as much as you do. We won’t sell or share your email address with anyone else. And you will never get emails from feeds you didn’t sign up for. If you feel there’s been an error, please let us know. Just forward any RSS email you receive to support@SendMeRSS.com with subject “unsubscribe” and we'll unsubscribe you immediately. If you feel you’ve signed up for more RSS mail than you can read, just return to the site to manage or reduce your feeds. With SendMeRSS, you are always in control of your mailbox.

5. How do I put a SendMeRSS subscription widget on my blog?

You only need your feed URL to get started. Use our widget generator to create a custom blog widget.

6. Will the email program I use work with SendMeRSS?

We try to make SendMeRSS work with all email programs, but it’s not always possible. We’ve successfully tested our system with Gmail, Yahoo! mail, Hotmail and Outlook. If you have any problems with an email program you’re using, let us know by writing to info@SendMeRSS.com. We’ll do our best to address any mail client compatibility issues in future releases.

7. Can I get SendMeRSS feeds on my cell phone?

Yes. Use our mobile subscription form. We’ll send you a confirmation to the mobile device you designate. If your cell phone doesn’t allow you to reply, just type the confirmation link we send into any web browser.

8. When I subscribe to a feed, will I get to see all the old posts sent before I subscribed—or just new ones?

You’ll only get new posts, not old ones.

9. How often will you check my sites for updates?

We’ll check each of the sites you’ve selected at least every two hours, but usually, it’s more like every hour.

10. I followed all the sign-up steps but I haven’t received anything yet.

The first step is to check your feed to ensure it’s working. Do this by entering your feed URL at http://feedvalidator.org.

This site will immediately tell you if it’s a functioning feed. If the feed is OK, then be sure contact our SendMeRSS Support Team at support@SendMeRSS.com. We’ll do our best to sort it out for you.

11. I forgot my password. How do I retrieve it?

No problem. Use our Forgot Password Form.

12. I'm getting duplicate SendMeRSS posts for one feed. What should I do?

This can happen when you accidentally subscribe to two versions of the same feed. Just unsubscribe from one of the duplicate feeds. SendMeRSS is smart enough to keep sending you posts for the feed you really wanted in the first place.

13. What feed formats are supported by SendMeRSS?

SendMeRSS is a world-class robust application that supports all of RSS 2.0, RSS 1.0, RSS 0.9x, Atom 0.3 and Atom 1.0. For best results, we recommend selecting RSS 2.0 feeds whenever available.
